What are the specific benefits of training in the heat?

Improves your athletic performance across a range of temperatures over time. In fact, studies have shown that heat training is just as effective, if not more effective, than altitude training.
Helps prevent the common cold and fight against other common illnesses, viruses, and germs. That’s because sweat contains an antimicrobial peptide called dermcidin. You can think of it like your bodies’ own natural antibiotic and first line of defense for your immune system.

How many calories are burned per class?
Most riders typically burn somewhere between 400-800+ per 45-minute class. But remember, everyone is different. And the exact amount you burn depends on a lot of factors including height, weight, fitness level, and the amount of individual exertion per class. Many of our riders mention that they are burning an average of an additional 100-200 calories per RydeFYR class as compared to a traditional room-temperature cycling class. YOU GO, YOU!
Can I ride if I am pregnant?
Everyone is different. So we ask that you please check with your doctor before riding while pregnant at RydeFYR.
Whats up with the seat? How can I make it more comfortable ?
Some riders choose to use a cushioned gel seat cover as they get used to riding regularly. After the initial 5-10 consistent rides, most riders typically find that the body acclimatizes to the feel of the saddle.

Why Ryde in the heat?
Well to be frank, riding in the heat is HARDER, than your average air-conditioned spin class. And AT RydeFYR WE BELIEVE IN CHALLENGING OURSELVES! Scientific studies have shown that training in the heat is as effective if not more effective, than altitude training to improve overall athletic performance. Plus it just feels good when your muscles are warm. Once you RydeFYR (yes, our name is both a noun and a verb) you’ll be surprised at how much easier your cross training routine and regular room temp classes are too! Our Ryders have reported that our rides, make their other spin classes seam easy. Almost too easy! Our RydeFYR family members are running more miles with ease, experiencing improved sleep, improved skin tone , better digestion, weight loss, feeling stronger and so much more!
It's my first time at RydeFYR. What should I do to prepare?
Hydrate! Drink lots of water before, during, and after your ride.
Eat a light meal or snack. Remember, you will be doing cardiovascular activity in a heated environment, so no need to eat a four-course meal. But prepare your body to take on the challenge by eating something small, roughly 30-60minutes before class.
Arrive to the studio 15 minutes prior to class so that you can check in, sign waivers, learn how to use our locker system, and get set up on your bike. Be sure to plan ahead, and give yourself extra time to park. Parking notoriously takes time in our little beach city!
I'm nervous. What if I can't do everything in the class?
That’s ok! At RydeFYR it’s all about YOU. We encourage you to listen to your body as you build up your endurance, strength, and stamina — one ride at a time. YOU are in control of YOUR WOROUT. You even control the level of resistance on the bike. So take the class at your own pace. You are welcome to sit, slow down, and drink water whenever you wish. Trust the process and listen to your body. YOU GOT THIS! And remember, every time you come back, you get stronger and more confident in your capabilities.
What are your studio rules?
Every rider must sign a waiver prior to their first ride (online/digital, or in studio). Riders between the ages of 12-17 must have a parent/legal guardian sign the waiver in-person prior to their first class.
We reserve the right to release any bikes that are not checked in 5-minutes before class begins. We ask that riders who are running late, call the studio to let us know. We will hold the bike for 10-minutes after class begins, though we cannot guarantee the rider will be given the bike they signed up for. Unfortunately riders who are more than 10 minutes late will not be admitted into class.
If a rider is planning on leaving class early, we ask that they please tell the Instructor ahead of time.
In order to cancel a class reservation and return it to your account, you must unreserve by 12am the night prior to the class. If a rider does not cancel their bike they will be charged for it. Riders can cancel by logging into their profile online or calling the studio directly. The studio is open 30 minutes before and after class times listed on the schedule.
We are not responsible for any items that are lost or stolen at our studios.
